Study on the Relationship between Fluorine intake and Dental Caries Experiences

Abstract
It has been well known fact that the communal water fluoridation is the most effective preventive measure to reduce dental caries occurance in children.
For the relationship between fluorine intake and dental caries prevalence and the basic data for the communal water fluoridation requires lot of researches to be contributed to.
Kwangwha-Kun and Asan-Kun where the drinking water contain 0.9 and 1.5 ppm respectively was selected upon this purpose. The dental caries prevalences of the permanent teeth of 365 male and 341 female, total of 706 children, aged 6 to 14 was surveyed.
The results were as follows:
1. DMF person rate showed 32.88% in male, 34.92% in femrl: and 33.99% in average of both.
2. DMFT rate showed 5.40% in male 5.68% in female and 5.54% in average of both. 3. DMFT index showed 0.80 in male, 0.89 in female and 0.85 in average of both.
4. DMFT person rate, DMFT rate and DMFT index was increased gradually as the age increased. 5. DMFT rate showed higher in lower jaw, than upper however no significant difffrences between left
and right side of same jaw was found.
6. DMFT rate showed higher in upper than lower jaw on anterior teeth, and higher in lower jaw than upper on posterior teeth.
7. The sequence of DMFT rate of various typ-, of teeth were lowered 1st molar, 1st premolar, 2nd molar, 2nd premolar, central incisor, lateral incisor and canine in respective order on upper jaw and 1st molar, 2nd molar, 2nd premolar, 1st premolar, central incisor, lateral incisor and canine
on lower jaw.
